BAHAWALPUR:

The Bahawalpur Transport Company will start plying five air-conditioned CNG buses in the city from August 10, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Dr Muhammad Naeem Rauf announced on Tuesday.

In a meeting held at his office, Dr Rauf said students will be able to use green cards, introduced by the Punjab government, in these buses.

These cards will allow them to pay half the fare.

Regional Transport Authority Secretary Ibrahim Ghumman said 10 more buses will be added in the second phase this year.

Each bus has a capacity of 65 passengers (39 seated and 26 standing).

The buses introduced in the first phase will ply from the City railway station to Circular Road, Farid Gate, Saddar Puli and Yazman City. Those in the second phase will ply from Bahawalpur to Hasilpur and Ahmadpur Sharqia.
