Wind surfing: Van Rijsselberge wins gold

The Dutch sailor entered the medal race with a 22-point lead.

WEYMOUTH:
Dorian van Rijsselberge capped a dominant performance with a victory in the medal race as he won wind surfing gold in the event’s last Olympic appearance. The Dutch sailor entered the medal race with a 22-point lead and only needed to start the double-points race to take gold. Athens 2004 bronze medallist and Weymouth resident Nick Dempsey finished second in the medal race to claim silver in front of his home fans.
