A police officer of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) was gunned down in Lyari.
KARACHI:
A police officer of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) was gunned down in Lyari. Constable Mohammad Siddiq, 28, was standing at a shop near his residence in Moosa Lane, Lyari when at least two armed men on a motorcycle shot him five times, killing him on the spot. His body was shifted to the Civil hospital where CID officials also arrived. Baghdadi SHO Haji Sanaullah said that initial investigation suggested that members of the outlawed Peoples Amn Committee were behind Siddiq’s murder. Siddiq had been posted at the CID’s Anti-Extremist Cell (AEC) for the past two years. AEC officials said that he had played a vital role in the operation against gangsters in Lyari. He was the ninth CID officer to have been killed in the past couple of months, they said.
