Busted: Gang of car thieves arrested

Fourteen stolen cars and Rs12 million in cash was seized from the suspects.

Police claimed on Monday to have arrested four car thieves who stole vehicles and then sold them in the Tribal Areas.


Gang-leader Muhammad Arshad alias Kaka, Maqbool Ahmed, Muhammad Ahmed and Muhammad Nawaz were arrested by Anti-Vehicles Lifting Staff of City Division. Fourteen stolen cars and Rs12 million in cash was seized from the suspects.

The accused would steal cars parked at public places with the help of master keys. They would then drive the cars to the Tribal Areas and sell them to a man named Arshad Pathan, said police officials. The gang was wanted in connection with a total of 22 car theft cases registered at various police stations including in Faisal Town, Wahdat Colony, Gulberg, Garden Town, Model Town, Mughalpura, Defence and Ichhra.
