Money wasted: Roads in disrepair as funds ‘eaten up’
District highways division had released Rs500 million as advance payment to contractors.
DADU:
The roads in Dadu are in a dilapidated state despite millions of funds being released for their development. Sources told the Sindh Express that the district highways division had released Rs500 million as advance payment to contractors on the recommendations of some influential people. The contractors, however, have just spread crushed stone on the roads, including Chandni Chowk, Siyal Mori Road, Gulzar Madina Masjid Road, Excise Office Road and Shahani Mohalla Road. Muneer Ahmed Abbasi, a highway division engineer, was suspended by Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah on the complaints of issuing advance funds, but he was later reinstated on the condition of completing the remaining work.
