Bid to smuggle 5kg heroin to China foiled
Hash-smuggling cop makes getaway.

The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) arrested a man on Sunday for attempting to smuggle heroin to China from Benazir Bhutto International Airport.
ANF staff arrested Muhammad Maqsood after two kilograms of heroin were recovered from his boots and jacket during a body search. He was booked to fly to Beijing on an early morning flight.
Meanwhile, the Rawalpindi police obtained one-day physical remand of three policemen arrested on Saturday night for carrying a large quantity of hashish.
The Saddar Bairuni police said they produced constables Natiq Shakeel, Babar Shah and Saeed Shah along with two women, Ghulam Qamar and Shazia Bibi, and an accomplice, Muhammad Aslam to a duty magistrate, who gave them a one-day physical remand to interrogate the suspects.
Saddar Bairuni SHO Sohail Zaffar said that they were trying to arrest another suspect, Head Constable Ishtiaq Ahmed, who fled with a huge quantity of hashish yesterday.
All four policemen had been serving at the newly-established Race Course Police Station and were apprehended on Girja Road by the area police on Saturday night after they were found carrying the contraband in two vehicles.
The policemen managed to stop one car and arrested Shakeel, Aslam and the two women with 5kg of hashish.
However, head constable Ishtiaq Ahmed managed to drive his car away from the scene. The vehicle is believed to have been carrying over 20 kg of hashish.
