As Khosas deliver googly, PML-N tries to woo rival politicians
Politicians have been elected regularly from their constituency, might benefit the PML-N, if inducted.
LAHORE:
Amid the estrangement of a long-standing and influential south Punjab family, the Khosas, from the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N), the party has contacted two politicians from Dera Ghazi Khan – who are allegedly against the Khosa family – Express News reported on Sunday.
Express News quoted sources as saying that Pakistan Muslim League – Quaid (PML-Q) MNA Sardar Jaffer Khan Leghari and independent MPA Amjad Farooq were invited by the PML-N leadership to Raiwind for talks regarding the upcoming elections.
The politicians will first reach Lahore to meet with Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif.
Express News correspondent Tariq Ismail Qureshi reported that the politicians have been elected regularly from their constituency and might benefit the PML-N, if inducted.
Both of them were contacted by a close aide of Hamza Shahbaz.
Meanwhile, disgruntled senior leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Sardar Zulfiqar Khan Khosa has softened his stance and is likely to welcome PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif at his residence, sources told The Express Tribune.
Khosa recently resigned from all political offices due to differences with Shahbaz Sharif, while his son, Dost Muhammad Khan Khosa, also tendered his resignation on Friday.
However, it turns out that the elder Khosa has been placated and has given up a list of demands which he was to present before Nawaz.
Sources within the party had said that the PML-N has constituted an “anti-Khosa committee,” which, instead of reconciling with the Khosas, gave them a cold shoulder, forcing Zulfiqar to soften his stance.
