Karachi Bar Association took exception to the strike by the judicial staff.
KARACHI:
The judicial staff of the City Courts Complex went on a strike on Saturday after a lawyer angered by rejection of bail of his client misbehaved, kicked the door of the chamber of judge and later slapped a peon of the court, eye witnesses said.
According to details, Imtiaz advocate appeared before the Additional District and Sessions Judge, South, Abdul Razzak, for the hearing of a bail application of his client, Ehtesham. The court, however, rejected the bail plea. This enraged the lawyer and he kicked the door of the chamber of the ADJ. While leaving the court room, he slapped on duty peon, Shafique, and went away fuming. Soon after the incident, the staff of courts of District South stopped the court work. Later they were joined by staff of all the district courts causing hardship to thousands of litigants.
Karachi Bar Association took exception to the strike by the judicial staff and initially believed that the issue involved a judicial officer and a lawyer and why the staff went on strike. They termed the protest as “illegal.”
