Four bodies found, 38 men caught in raids

Four bodies were found in the city on Friday in Lyari and Dalmia areas.


The bodies of two young men were found from Ahmed Shah Bukhari Road in Lyari. According to the police, the bodies were stuffed inside gunny bags and the youths’ hands and legs were tied with rope. They had also been tortured before being executed. They were kidnapped on Thursday morning when they were on their way to work.

The bodies were taken to Civil hospital and the victims were identified as 17-year-old Ali Haider and 21-year-old Farhan. They were residents of Ranchore Lane and were in the imitation jewellery business. A case has been registered against unidentified men by Farhan’s father.

Another body was found in a gunny bag from the Lyari River near Dhobi Ghat. The victim, who has yet to be identified, had his hands and legs cut off with a sharp object. the victim had also been shot many times and the body seemed to be two-days old. It was moved to Edhi morgue after medico-legal formalities were completed at the Civil hospital.

The body of a middle-aged man was found from Super Highway. He had been shot multiple times and the body was two days old.

Meanwhile a robber was killed in an encounter with the police at Sharae Faisal near Bahadurabad. The police said that four armed men were mugging people from the passengers in a minibus. One of the passengers jumped from the moving bus and told the police. According to the police, the robbers opened fire at the police when they chased them and the police retaliated. A police constable, Azad Hayat, and two robbers were also injured, while the other two escaped. They were taken to Jinnah hospital where the robber succumbed to his wounds.

The Rangers conducted a search operation in the limits of Aziz Bhatti police station in Dalmia and caught 17 suspects, including three alleged gangsters. The Shanti Nagar area was also searched. Two hand grenades and other weapons were recovered from the men. It is suspected that the men belong to the Mullah Sohail group. Meanwhile 15 more suspects were arrested from the Kunwari Colony in Orangi Town. The Crime Investigation Department also claimed to have arrested six men from Darakshan and Gizri areas. They were identified as Ali Harmain, Babar, Syed Noor, Ejaz, Qaiser Khan and Mujeeb Ali.
