Pakistan flag flies high in Switzerland

A Pakistani scout leader has been selected to train scouts from around the world in Switzerland.

KARACHI:
A Pakistani scout leader has been selected to train scouts from around the world at the Kandersteg International Scout Centre (KIS Centre) in Switzerland.

District Secretary of the PIA Boy Scouts Association Shafquat Sheraz, 27, was chosen for the responsibility from among candidates from other countries like India, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea and the Philippines.

Every year the Kandersteg camp selects extraordinary scout leaders from all over the world to take part in training and other camping activities.


Sheraz, a telecom engineer by profession, has been a scout since he was in grade 4. He has won gold medals for Best Scout, Best Rover Scout and Best of the Best Scout awards. Sheraz is the youngest district secretary of the PIA boy scouts association.

Assistant Commissioner PIA Boy Scouts Association Aamir Mehmood said: “He has shown the world that Pakistani youth not only take part in healthy activities, but can also lead the youth of other nations in useful activities. On his return Shafquat’s experience at Kandersteg will certainly help the Pakistani youth through scout training of international standards.” District Scouts Unit Leader Zahid Hamid said: “Shafquat’s leadership qualities and selection has given inspiration to all Pakistani youth.”
