PESHAWAR:

Reports of a large number of young men from Chitral and other areas of Malakand Division joining the Afghan National Army (ANA) prompted the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) home and tribal affairs department to take notice and initiate an inquiry.

The interior ministry has directed investigations into the report to confirm their veracity, said Qamar Ali, section officer of the department while talking to The Express Tribune.

The home department has also asked Commissioner Malakand division for detailed information, he said.

Data regarding the number of Pakistanis involved will help us take appropriate action in accordance with the law, the home department stated in a press release.

The statement said that a large number of unemployed youths from Chitral and other remote areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Malakand Division have reportedly joined the ANA.

Is it not the same as Pakistanis joining the Saudi, Qatari, UAE or Omani armed forces - why restrictions on Pakistanis joining the Afghan army?
