Olympics: Pakistan beat Argentina 2-0 in men's hockey

Imran Muhammad opened the scoring, before Sohail Abbas scored a trademark goal off a penalty corner to double lead.

LONDON:
Pakistan triumphed over Argentina 2-0 in the men’s hockey tournament in at the Riverbank arena on Wednesday.

Pakistan took the lead towards the end of first half through Imran Muhammad on 30 minutes.


Captain and veteran penalty corner expert Sohail Abbas then doubled Pakistan’s lead in the second half as the team then held on sustained Argentinean pressure to see out the match for their first win in the 2012 edition of the Olympics.

Pakistan had earlier drawn their inaugural match with Spain 1-1.

Pakistan now has four points from two games but stands behinds Great Britain who lead by a better goal difference, and two points behind group leaders Australia.
