‘Zimbabwe willing to play in Pakistan’

Zimbabwe has offered to visit Pakistan in a bid to raise funds for the flood victims.

LAHORE:
Zimbabwe has offered to visit Pakistan in a bid to raise funds for the flood victims. The move is the first by any country, following the Lahore attack on the Sri Lankan side in March 2009, to visit Pakistan and could signal the return of international cricket in Pakistan.

“We’re in talks with the Zimbabwe Cricket Union,” PCB spokesperson Nadeem Sarwar told The Express Tribune. “But everything is at a premature stage and nothing is finalised yet but I can confirm that they’re willing to play a series as they want to help raise funds for the flood victims.”

The breakthrough, as The Express Tribune understands, is an effort of the ICC Task Force, headed by Giles Clarke, established to oversee the revival of cricket in Pakistan and to seek alternative venues for Pakistan to play their ‘home’ matches.
