Water scarcity: ‘Declare Gwadar calamity-hit’
Gwadar would be provided 1.5 million gallon water per day from the Mirani dam on permanent basis.

Senate Standing Committee on Climate Change Monday asked the federal and provincial governments to declare Gwadar as calamity-hit area and immediately start physical work on bringing water there from the Mirani dam. The standing committee in its meeting held here urged immediate measures for providing water to Gwadar by suspending normal procedure. Gwadar would be provided 1.5 Million Gallon water per day from the Mirani dam on permanent basis. The contract should be immediately awarded and with focussed approach, the project should be completed within six months, the committee recommended Senator Hamayun Khan said the water scarcity in Gwadar was serious issue and it must be addressed on war footing with concerted efforts of all departments.
