Power plants: Oil supply ‘more than doubled’
Oil supply to power plants increased to 25‚000 tons from 12‚000 tons to enable them to operate at maximum capacity

Oil supply to power plants in the country has been increased to 25‚000 tons from 12‚000 tons to enable them to operate at maximum capacity, and to ensure that no plant is closed due to a shortage of fuel, Federal Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira said on Monday. He said a windstorm had damaged two 500 kilovolt (KV) and 220KV electricity lines in Muzaffargarh a few days ago‚ causing to a loss of 1,800 megawatts (MW) to the national grid. He said the two lines have been restored, which added 1,100MW electricity to the national grid. By Monday evening‚ he said the 350MW Lal Peer plant will also be restored. Kaira said two 325MW power plants at Chashma have also resumed production, due to which generation capacity has improved and stabilised.
