Water shortage: Rally in front of CDA chairman’s office
Protestors said there was acute shortage of water which had crippled routine life.

The capital’s residents on Monday staged a protest in front of Capital Development Authority CDA office against the acute shortage of water in their localities. Hundreds of residents, the majority of them from the women’s wing of Jamat-i-Islami assembled in front of Chairman CDA’s office demanding an equal distribution of water. The protesters claimed that in their sectors, G-9, I-9, and I-10, there was acute shortage of water which had crippled routine life. They chanted slogans against the civic body and blamed chairman Farkhand Iqbal for failing to ensure an equal distribution of water. “This is completely unfair. I’m unable to understand why the civic body has adopted a discriminatory attitude towards us,’’ complained Ilyas Ahmed, a resident of G-9. Addressing the protesters, Chairman CDA claimed that there was an overall water shortage in the city. “CDA has signed various projects with China to overcome the water crisis in the long term,” he said.
