Football: National women’s team kicks off camp
Pakistan women’s footballers will start their preparations for their first international tournament of the year.
KARACHI:
Pakistan women’s footballers will start their preparations for their first international tournament of the year from August 3, as national coach Tariq Lutfi begins the camp with 35 players in Lahore to train the team for the South Asian Championship that will take place from September 17 in Colombo. According to team captain Sana Mehmud, who has just played the Pakistan Football Federation Women Club Championship qualifying round with Young Rising Stars FC, it was a relief for her to know that Pakistan will be competing in at least one international event. “I’m all excited because we will finally be attending a national camp,” Sana told The Express Tribune. “It’s something big for us because we hardly get to represent the country abroad and any opportunity is precious. It’s an honour we wait for as footballers.”
