Article 25-A: NCHD convenes dialogue

Article 25-A ensures the provision of free and compulsory education for children between the age of five and 16.

ISLAMABAD: The National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) organised a national dialogue on Article 25-A, Right to Education and invited all political parties along with the provincial machinery to implement it. The meeting was presided over by Minister of State for Education and Training Sardar Shahjehan Yousaf. While highlighting the significance of education, NCHD Chairperson Dr Nafisa Shah asserted that education has been globally accepted as one of the fundamental human rights and is an unequivocal path to sustainable socioeconomic development. On the occasion, she requested the representatives of the political parties to include Article 25-A in their manifesto. The attendees agreed on the swift implementation of Article 25-A, and to increase the expenditure on education in the future. Article 25-A ensures the provision of free and compulsory education for children between the age of five and sixteen.
