Two policemen amongst five dead in Quetta firing incidents

The deceased were taken to Bolan Medical Complex Hospital and Civil Hospital Quetta. Investigations are underway.

Five people, including two policemen were killed in separate firing incidents within a span of just one hour on Sunday night in Quetta.

According to police sources, in the first incident, unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate fire in Pood Gali Chowk, injuring two people. They succumbed to their injuries before reaching the hospital.

The victims were identified as Jalal-ud-Din and Muhibullah.

The second incident occurred at Arbab Karam Khan when three armed men entered a shop with sophisticated weapons and opened fire on an inmate, indentified as Sadam Hussain, who died on the spot.

In the third incident, a police mobile van was on routine patrol duty at Jail Road when two armed men riding a motorbike sprayed bullets on the van and fled. Resultantly, one policeman identified as Mohammad Sadiq died on the spot while Mohammad Asif succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

The deceased were taken to Bolan Medical Complex Hospital and Civil Hospital Quetta.


The unknown assailants managed to escape in all incidents despite the presence of police, Frontier corps Balochistan and other law enforcement agencies.

Talking to The Express Tribune, police officials could not confirm the motive behind the killings, however, they claimed the attack on the police van might have been a targeted incident.

Police have registered separate cases of all the incidents and started investigation, however, no arrest has been made so far.

Abduction

Unidentified assailants abducted a man, identified as Qurban Ali, at gunpoint from Hazargani, on the outskirts of Quetta, moving him towards an undisclosed location.

Police have registered the case and an investigation in underway.
