Police actions: Two ‘criminals’ shot dead in encounter

Two of the criminals were hit in the ensuing shootout, while the other two fled.

Two people, police identified as robbers, were killed in a shootout with the police in Defence-B on Sunday, while their two alleged accomplices fled.


Cantt division SP Maroof Safdar Wahla said the deceased, Rehmat Ali and Pervaiz Zahoor, both from Kasur district, were wanted for murder and robbery.  He said Zahoor was wanted in two murder cases, while Rs200,000 had been fixed as head money for Ali.

Police said four men on two motorcycles were signalled to stop at a picket near Lalik Jan Chowk. When they tried to flee instead, police officials chased them. When they reached Block-G, police said, they fired some shots aiming at the tyres of the motorcycles. The men fired back, they said.

Two of them were hit in the ensuing shootout, while the other two fled.
