Hundreds of villages still under threat

A flood torrent which was earlier diverted from Garhi Khero hit a safety dyke in Shahdadkot area of Sindh on Saturday.

More than a hundred villages surrounding Kabo Saeed Khan and Shahdadkot have been affected, destroying crops over hundreds of acres of land.

Meanwhile, the water level at Guddu and Sukkur barrages is reducing. At Guddu, water level has reduced by 75,000 cusecs while at the Sukkur barrage there has been a decrease of 16,000 cusecs.

Flooding in Punjab

Flood torrents from River Indus are still threatening Mochi Wala after ravaging the Shehar Sultan area of Muzaffargarh in Punjab.

Locals diverted the water from River Indus towards River Chenab by opening the doors of Shehar Sultan drain facing Super Nur dyke.

In Shehar Sultan, after floods wreaked havoc in the suburban areas, residents were forced to evacuate their homes. Locals are making desperate attempts to save their livestock and other belongings.

Meanwhile, water borne diseases are on the rise in Dera Ghazi Khan division where 100,000 people  have been diagnosed with gastroenteritis. Moreover, there are not in enough hospitals in the area to cope with the surge of the large number of patients.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif ordered authorities to spray insecticides in the area to prevent outbreak of epidemics.

Trying to get back on track

Life is slowly taking its normal course in Kot Addu and Mehmood Kot after a drop in water levels in the region.

But the local population has crticised the government for not doing enough to help them.

Floodwaters damaged wheat bags worth millions of rupees in Kot Addu in Southern Punjab. The wheat bags were stocked in a local storage house.

Fortunately, some of the wheat bags are still undamaged and they are being transported to Layyah.

Floods continue to ravage Balochistan

Raging floodwaters are wreaking havoc in Jaffarabad and Naseerabad districts of Balochistan.

Another flood torrent entered Dera Allah Yar and Rojhan Jamali in Jaffarabad, leading to suspension of road links in these areas.

In Gandhaka, 25 villages have been inundated, 500 homes have been damaged and 25,000 people are homeless. The army has so far rescued 300 victims.

In Naseerabad district, Qabula, Rajan Amrani, Haji Khan Amrani and Khiyazai Pandrani have been inundated following a breach in a dyke.
