FAISALABAD:

The family of a woman who died in childbirth ransacked a private hospital on Thursday blaming the hospital for her death as well as of the newborn.

Sabira Bibi, wife of Imtiaz Javaid, a resident of Ghaziabad was taken to a private hospital at Saleemi Chowk on Satiana Road where she died.

Her family and some supporters vandalised the hospital and beat up its staff.

Asrar Ahmad, one of her relatives, said, “We brought Sabira to the hospital for delivery. Doctors did not provide proper treatment despite charging the heavy fee.”

A member of the hospital administration, Zafar Ahmed, said Sabiran was already critical when she arrived at the hospital. “The baby had expired before birth.  We tried our best to save the life of mother but she could not survive,” he said. Batala Colony police were called to disperse the protesters. SHO Ali Imran said a case had been registered against the hospital administration. He said the hospital has been sealed and police ae looking for the doctor identified by the family.
