School education: ‘Teaching quality should be improved’

Scholarships were being given to 34,000 students through the Punjab Educational Endowment Fund.

Speakers at a dialogue on Thursday urged the need for improving the quality of teaching at public-sector schools. 



The dialogue was arranged by Hayat Foundation under its Young Champions Initiative for Girls Education” (YCIGE) at University of Agriculture, Faisalabad.

In her address, Hayat Foundation chairwoman Afshan Sultan said the dialogue was part of the organisation’s efforts to promote enrollment in six districts – Lahore, Kasur, Faisalabad, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalnagar and Pakpatan. She said the young champions’ initiative were working to mobilise communities in these districts and to promote gender rights.

The gathering was told that scholarships were being given to 34,000 students through the Punjab Educational Endowment Fund. Parliamentarians Major (retd) Rana Abdul Rehman, Rao Kashif Raheem, Dr Ghazala Rana and Zafar Iqbal Nagra attended the event.
