FAISALABAD:
Bhowana police on Thursday registered a case against seven policemen for illegally detaining a woman for 11 days.
Police said they were probing the matter and arrests would be made once evidence was gathered against the suspected policemen, including Sub Inspector Mazhar Irfan.
The FIR was registered on directives of a Chiniot additional sessions judge. Bahishtan Bibi had moved court on July 3.
In her petition, she accused the policemen of picking her up from her home on June 17 and keeping her at a private cell until June 28.
It said the police had suspected her of theft but no FIR was produced against her in the matter.
She had told the court that her application for registration of an FIR against the accused officials was rejected by the police. Police had denied the charge.
