Med college applicants unable to submit forms
The applicants were unable to submit forms because of the tension and violence sparked by target killings in the city.
KARACHI:
A large number of applicants seeking admission to medical colleges through the Dow University of Health Sciences were unable to submit their forms for an entry test on Friday, in the wake of the tension and violence sparked by target killings in the city.
With Aug 23 as the last date for submitting forms, the two weekly holidays on Saturday and Sunday means they will only be left with a last chance on Monday. However, with the limited number of counters dealing with applicants and reduced office hours during Ramazan, it is likely that many of them will be left out.
The applicants are seeking admissions to Dow Medical College and Sindh Medical College for MBBS and Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan Oral Health Sciences for BDS.
Many could not make it for form submission as public transport was hard to find in the city due to the murder of an Awami National Party leader and his colleague on Thursday and the violence and arson incidents that followed.
The applicants and their parents have appealed that the deadline should be extended by at least three days.
