KARACHI:
The Employees Old Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) administration has sacked an official and suspended three others on charges of misreporting information about their health care expenses. On Thursday, EOBI’s assistant director for Karachi Ammanullah Mahaisar was suspended for reportedly submitting a fake medical bill, while informational technology department’s assistant director Qamrudin Abbasi was suspended for manipulating a medical prescription written by the institute’s senior medical officer. The loan department’s superintendent, Afaq Ali Siddiqui, has been suspended for misusing the institute’s medical facility. An assistant at the EOBI Sukkur office, Farooq Ali Abbasi, was fired because he was working in the Sindh police as well, and therefore violated the rule that government officials cannot simultaneously work at more than one department.
