Legal Matters: LUMHS staff booked over July 12 clash
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Ali Nawaz Chandio registered the FIR.
JAMSHORO:
Thirty-four doctors and support staff of the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS), including medical superintendent Dr Khalid Qureshi and assistant medical superintendent Dr Mola Bux Thebo, were nominated in an FIR late on Sunday for allegedly beating a man on July 12.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Ali Nawaz Chandio registered the FIR and claimed that the hospital administration demanded Rs5,000 for transporting the body of his neighbour, Ghulamullah Jatt, to the hospital.
He added that the staff had initially refused to make the ambulance available, and then later started beating him. “Dr Qureshi and others reached the spot and, instead of ordering them to stop, they ordered them to continue beating me.” Jatt’s friends and relatives protested at Jamshoro Phattak after the clash. He also filed an application in the sessions court.
