Asif delighted at Award nomination
Asif is honoured to be the only Pakistani short-listed for the ICC’s Test Player of the Year award.

Fast-bowler Mohammad Asif is honoured to be the only Pakistani short-listed for the ICC’s Test Player of the Year award.
The right-arm seamer became the 15th Pakistani to reach 100 Test wickets during the ongoing series against England and also became the second fastest Pakistani to reach the milestone.
“I feel honoured to be nominated in the awards,” Asif, who is currently ranked as the number two Test bowler in the world, told The Express Tribune. “I’m always enthusiastic about my cricket and these things definitely motivate.
“It’s a privilege to be the only Pakistani in the Award and is a honour for my country as well. My game has been improving after every match and the English conditions are helping me a lot.”
Pakistan will, however, miss the fast-bowler in the series against South Africa that takes place in the UAE from October. Asif, who was detained at Dubai airport for possession of a small amount of Opium, has been banned from entering the state by the authorities.
Pakistan, the most successful team in Twenty20 cricket, have failed to win a nomination in the format this year but youngsters Mohammad Aamir and Umar Akmal managed to get spots in the Emerging Player of the Year category.
