Contempt of court: Lawyers boycott courts
Lawyers hoisted black flags on the buildings of various bar associations.
LAHORE:
Lawyers boycotted court proceedings throughout the Punjab on Monday, observing a Black Day against the passage of Contempt of Court Act 2012.
The Pakistan Bar Council, the Punjab Bar Council and the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) had given the call of strike against the law. The lawyers hoisted black flags on the buildings of various bar associations. They urged the government to withdraw the new law. Wearing black armbands, lawyers chanted slogans in favour of the courts. Some high court judges conducted hearings of some urgent cases while a complete strike was observed at the district level.
