Cricket: McGlashan retires from all cricket

Peter McGlashan, the New Zealand and Northern Districts wicket-keeper, has retired from all forms of cricket, according to ESPN. He was named in New Zealand’s 30-man preliminary squad for the World Twenty20 in September, but decided to quit cricket to work with Glenn Family Foundation, an initiative geared towards eliminating domestic violence. “It’s an incredible chance to make a difference to people’s lives,” said McGlashan. Northern Districts coach Grant Bradburn said McGlashan’s innovative ability stood out. “His amazing ability to innovate and look at things from a different angle have helped the New Zealand team,” Bradburn said. “We will miss him, but I’m stoked for Pete as we’re losing him to a very fine cause.”
