Address: ‘SC can strike down any law ’

the 2007-2008 lawyers’ movement wasn’t about reinstatement of judges but was “for the supremacy of law”

LAHORE:
The Supreme Court could strike down any law contrary to the spirit of the Constitution, said Justice (retired) Khalilur Rehman Ramday on Friday. He was addressing the members of the Lahore Bar Association at Aiwan-i-Adl. Justice Ramday asked politicians not to mislead the nation and said the parliament cannot make any law that violated fundamental rights of citizens or Islamic injunctions. He said the 2007-2008 lawyers’ movement wasn’t about reinstatement of judges but was “for the supremacy of law”.
