Rs5.6b development budget for Faisalabad

FDA budget amounted to Rs16.76 billion, of which Rs11.159 billion was non-development expenditure

As many as Rs5.7 billion has been allocated for development works in Faisalabad for the current fiscal year, this was announced in a meeting of the district coordination committee on Friday.


The meeting was told that Rs1.523 billion of the development budget was allocated for ongoing schemes and the rest for new schemes. DO (planning) Mehr Ramazan said new schemes worth Rs433.7 million had already been identified and work would soon begin on these.

The total Faisalabad Development Authority budget amounted to Rs16.76 billion, of which Rs11.159 billion was non-development expenditure.

The committee stated that Rs332.2 million was allocated for the purchase of medicine for public hospitals in the district –45 per cent more than the amount spent for the purpose last year.


The district government will separately get Rs115 million for purchase of medicine and machinery for basic health units and dispensaries, under the Punjab Rural Support Programme. The committee said the amount was 42 per cent more than the amount spent for the purpose under the PRSP last year.

The meeting was chaired by MPA Mian Ajmal.  MPA Khawaja Muhammad Islam, DCO Naseem Sadiq, EDO (finance) Ayub Khan and DO (finance) Muhammad Anwar were also present.

DO (planning) told the meeting that Rs552 million was allocated for construction, repair and maintenance of farm to market roads. He said Rs20 million was allocated for purchase of medicines for veterinary clinics of the Livestock Department.

He said Rs80 million was allocated for repair, maintenance and renovation of school buildings in the district. This, he said, was more 13 per cent more than the amount allocated last year.

Rs20 million was allocated for promotion of sports; Rs3 million for a tree plantation drive; Rs215.4 million for the purchase of vehicles for the solid waste management department and water and sanitation agency and Rs51.6 million for the General Hospital Samanabad.
