Minorities: 15 students get scholarships
Parliament Secretary Joel Aamir Sahotra distributed cheques worth Rs555,000 among 15 minority students at a ceremony
BAHAWALPUR:
Member of the Provincial Assembly and Parliament Secretary Joel Aamir Sahotra on Friday distributed cheques worth Rs555,000 among 15 minority students at a ceremony in the Circuit House. He said this was the first time in the country’s history that scholarships were given to students of minority religions. The MPA said the government planned to distribute double the funds it had distributed among minority students this year. He praised the provincial government’s vision for promotion of Education. He said establishment of Danish Schools was a step in the right direction. Assistant Commissioner Khalid Mehmood said the government would safeguard the rights of minorities and ensure complete freedom for them to celebrate their religious festivals.
