Ashraf, Zardari chair high-level meeting in Islamabad

Pakistan-US relations, restoration of Nato supply routes, cross-border attacks from Afghanistan were addressed.

ISLAMABAD:
Before Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf leaves for his official visit to Afghanistan, President Asif Ali Zardari and Ashraf chaired a high-level meeting at the President's House in Islamabad on Wednesday.

Issues related to Pakistan-US relations, restoration of Nato supply routes and cross-border attacks from Afghanistan were discussed during the meeting.


According to sources, Ashraf would pressurise Afghani officials to take action against Maulvi Fazlullah's group and will also discuss joint-monitoring of the borders.

The meeting was attended by Minister for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar, President's Secretary General Salman Faruqui, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Khalid Shameem Wynne, Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani, Defence Secretary Nargis Sethi, Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Asif Sandila and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt.
