First information: Robber’s shootout death blamed on accomplices

Two men caught on Sunday remanded to Batala Colony police for a week.

FAISALABAD:

The FIR registered against the two men caught by a mob during a robbery in Batala Colony on Sunday has accused them of killing a third man accompanying them.

The complainant, Amir Gujjar, had on Sunday admitted to have killed Irfan Ahmed, a proclaimed offender, in self defence.

Meanwhile, the suspects were on Monday remanded to the Batala Colony police for a week. During interrogation, Wajid Ali and Muhammad Kashif, residents of Mohammadi Mohallah in Nawan Shehar Jhang and Chak 200-JB, respectively, told the police that they had started robbing households in the area after they left a factory job.

“We worked at an embroidery unit at the Small Industrial Estate but the wage was not enough to meet the expenses of our families,” they said.

Ali, Kashif, Ahmed and a fourth accomplice were caught and beaten up by a mob after a failed attempt to rob Gujjar’s house in Batala Colony. Ahmed died from a bullet wound he suffered during the scuffle and the fourth accomplices managed to escape. The two men were caught and handed over to the police.
