Ceremony at Nust: Engine measuring systems handed over

A total of nine systems were handed over to Nust Electrical and Mechanical Engineering College.

A ceremony to hand over engine blow-by measuring systems was held at National University of Science and Technology (Nust) on Monday, said a press release. A total of nine systems, developed by Dr Riaz Ahmad Mufti and his team at the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, were handed over to Nust Electrical and Mechanical Engineering College. The system, that is a first of its kind, monitors the blow-by of an engine and tells the right time for engine overhauling. Blow-by occurs in a vehicle’s engine when the air-fuel mixture passes by piston rings into the crankcase. High rates of blow-by can result in high fuel consumption and low engine performance. The developer and Nust have already filed its patent.
