Football: Capello appointed Russia coach

The 66-year-old will be the immediate successor to Dick Advocaat.

MOSCOW:
The Russian Football Union (RFU) appointed Italian coach Fabio Capello as its national manager yesterday. "We’ve decided to appoint Capello as our manager," announced the RFU Deputy President Nikita Simonyan. "We expect him to come to Moscow to finalise the details of his contract and sign it.” The 66-year-old will be the immediate successor to Dick Advocaat whose side were disappointingly knocked out of the Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine at the group stages.
