Militants destroy three houses
Militants blew up three empty houses in Naseerabad, on the outskirts of the city. The houses were owned by Haji Naseer Afridi and his family and were completely demolished by the explosions.
Local villagers told The Express Tribune that militants had demanded Rs6 million from Afridi, after which his family left the area leaving their houses empty.
However, items in the houses worth millions of rupees were destroyed by the blasts. Bomb Deposal Squad Official Hukam Khan said that three homemade time-bombs, each weighing about three kilogrammes, were detonated in the houses.
“He was a tribal businessman with large businesses in Darra, Peshawar and Punjab,” said a police officer.
Over the past six months, dozens of families have left the area fearing similar threats by militants.
