KARACHI: The Bomb Disposal Squad on Monday defused a bomb placed in an empty plot near Super Highway in Karachi. The plot was located near the Rangers' Sachal Wing headquarters.

The bomb carried 12 kilograms of explosives as well as ball bearings and was made in an oil canister.

A Rangers official said that it is too early to comment on whether the bomb was intended to target the rangers or not. “We will wait till the investigation into the matter is completed,” he said.

The official also added that the bomb was made in a similar way as the one defused earlier at the Jinnah hospital on June 24. He said there is a possibility that both the bombs were made by the same group.
