Clerics asked to help combat polio

EDO health says clerics can help in next polio vaccination campaign which will begin on July 16 and end on July 18.

Executive District Officer (EDO) Health Dr Inamul Haq said on Saturday that religious leaders should play their role to encouraging people to get their children vaccinated for polio.


Addressing an awareness seminar on the vaccination, Haq said that clerics can help in the next polio vaccination campaign which will begin on July 16 and end on July 18.

Salman Rafique, Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Health, said that clerics can start a campaign to get their children administered the drops at mosques.

He said that some prayers leaders had promised to make announcements about the campaign through mosque loudspeakers.

DCO Noorul Amin Mengal said that the city district government had decided to take prayer leaders on board to make the polio vaccination drive more successful.

Badshahi Masjid Khateeb Abdul Khabir Azad, Haider Ali Mirza, Usman Noori, Riaz Durrani, Aisf Sialwi and Abdul Wahhab Ropari were also present. UNICEF representatives and Rotary Club members also attended.
