SHANGHAI:
Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba was given a hero’s welcome as he arrived in China yesterday to start a two-and-a-half year contract. The 34-year-old has signed with Shanghai Shenhua on a deal that is reportedly worth £200,000 a week, and was unveiled to the public yesterday. “I didn’t come here with the idea of making a lot of money,” said the former Chelsea striker. “I come here because it is a completely different challenge from what I have seen in Europe before. And that’s the idea, there are many challenges but this one is a big one.”
