Operation: Pakistan Rangers enter gang-war infested Lyari
Still no prime target in sight.
KARACHI:
The Pakistan Rangers on Friday evening started an operation in gang-war infested Lyari, rounding up suspects from different places but without any prime target in sight, officials said.
The ‘targeted operation’ was still underway when this story was filed and a ranger’s spokesperson refused to share further details. There were reports some suspects being detained.
Sources confirmed that rangers’ personnel were positioned in and around Aaath Chowk, Shah Baig Lane and Baghdadi area.
Several such attempts in past have failed to control the criminal gangs which operate out of Lyari. Extortion and murders have become common in old city areas.
