CM says premature to talk of local government elections before the general elections slated for next year.
KARACHI:
Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah said on Friday that it would be premature to say whether the local government elections will be held before the general elections, but added that a “breakthrough” on LG system has been achieved between the two coalition partners, Pakistan Peoples Party and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and the new system would be soon introduced in Sindh.
Speaking to journalists after inaugurating 9th International– “My Karachi – Oasis of harmony” organised by Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry held at Karachi Expo Centre, the CM said that the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party with consultation of other coalition partners would make amendment into the local government act bill.
“This kind of international exhibition is giving a message that peace has returned to Karachi where international delegates have participated in the event,” he added.
To a question he said the government has given Rs2.5 subsidy under the Ramzan package and government would establish industrial zones for women and small traders.
