Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Aslam Tareen on Friday initiated departmental action against 11 station house officers (SHO) for allegedly using delay tactics in registration of FIRs on receiving citizens’ complaints.
The action was taken by the Citizen Feedback Cell (CFBC) on feedback from 2,192 callers who had lodged complaints with the police helpline (15) in June.
The cell, established on directions of the CCPO, is headed by Senior Superintendent of Police (Internal Accountability Division) Shariq Kamal.
The cell found that action had been taken on 2,091 complaints, whereas action on 101 was still pending.
The CFBC head took notice of the situation on Friday and issued instructions to the station house officers concerned to take appropriate action on the complaints. Following this, action was taken on 46 of the 101 FIRs.
Station house officers against whom departmental action was ordered are Islampura SHO Bashir Niazi, Shahdara SHO Muhammad Sibtain, Nishtar Colony SHO Liaqat Ali, Sabzazar SHO Hussnain Haider, Nawab Town SHO Malik Khalid Mehmood, Shadbagh SHO Farooq Asghar Awan, Gowalmandi SHO Nadeem Akthar, Mughalpura SHO Nasir Khan, Harbanspura SHO Taseer Riaz, Iqbal Town SHO Amir Suhail and Garden Town SHO Khalid Mehmood.
The CCPO also issued a warning of strict action against those found guilty of negligence or using delaying tactics. He directed the CFBC to pay spot visits to the police stations. He said that the Internal Accountability Division (IAD) SSP would issue show cause notices to SHOs and make recommendations to the CCPO and the operations deputy inspector general for departmental action.
IAD SSP Kamal said he was available round the clock to hear public complaints. He said citizens could also register their complaints with Inspector Sagheer Ahmed, in charge of the CFBC, on 0321-9474414 and 042-99201366.
