New CEC: Zardari signs appointment papers of Fakhruddin G Ebrahim
Justice Ebrahim was one of the three names nominated by PML-N.

President Asif Ali Zardari put his signature on the appointment papers of Justice (retd) Fakhruddin G Ebrahim as the chief election commissioner, Express News reported on Friday.
A 12-member parliamentary committee, headed by federal minister Syed Khurshid Shah, had reached consensus on Ebrahim’s name out of six nominees as the head of the Election Commission of Pakistan.
Ebrahim was one of the three names nominated by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). Justice (retd) Nasim Sikander and acting CEC Justice Shakirullah Jan were the other two nominated by the party.
Ebrahim also served as the interim law minister from 18 July 1993 until 19 October 1993 and interim justice minister from 5 November 1996 until 17 February 1997.
He served as the Governor of Sindh from 19 April 1989 to 6 August 1990.
