Vengeance: Man kills ex-wife after court ruled in her favour
The victim had filed for dissolution of marriage, because her husband did not support the family.
RAWALPINDI:
A woman was shot dead, on Thursday, by her ex-husband after her marriage was dissolved and she won custody of their children from a family court.
Muhammad Yousaf, 55, fired three shots at his ex-wife Imtiaz Bibi who died on the spot after the bullets hit her in the chest.
She had just won a case for dissolution of marriage from a family court under the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board as well as custody of their four children.
Police officials patrolling the area arrested the killer on the spot and recovered the weapon from him after he was confronted by passers-by on Abid Majeed Road.
The victim’s younger sister, Tazim Bibi said her sister was unhappy because her husband did not support the family and after struggling for 15 long years, she had decided to leave him.
The case for dissolution of marriage had been pending with the family court for the last three months the case and it was decided in my sister’s favour, Tazim said outside the District Headquarter Hospital’s mortuary.
Imtiaz was Yousaf’s third wife. He had already divorced two previous wives and had two children. My sister used to work as a domestic servant and had worked at restaurants to make ends meet, added Tazim, breaking down in tears.
The victim has been living in Jhanda Chichi with her brother Nasir who works at a cinema along with her 13 year-old daughter. Three sons, aged six, eight and 10, were living with their father after their parents’ separation.
Race Course Inspector Station House Officer Karim Nawaz Niazi said the man killed his ex-wife after the court granted her divorce, because he was unhappy with the decision.
