Parliamentary Body: ‘A victory for people’

Muhammad Ali Durrani says Bahawalpur will soon become the most prosperous province in the country.

Muhammad Ali Durrani, a leader of the Movement for Restoration of Bahawalpur Province, on Thursday thanked the president and provincial assembly for sending a reference to form a Parliamentary Commission on New Provinces and adopting a resolution to support the task, respectively.


Speaking at a reception, he called the developments a victory for the people of Bahawalpur.

He said, “Our goal is in sight. Bahawalpur will soon become the most prosperous province in the country.” Durrani said that only Rs17 billion was spent on Bahawalpur division currently. Muhammad Yahya Khan Baloch, president of the Bahawalpur High Court Bar Association, said that the BHCBA supported the demand. Mian Muhammad Ameer Advocate said that lawyers will play a crucial role in the establishment of Bahawalpur province. Makhdoom Nasir Bukhari said that once Bahawalpur province was made a two new divisions, nine new districts and 30 new tehsils would need to be created.
