Guidance for youth: Career counselling event by PMA

Pakistan Medical Association organised a career-counseling seminar for young doctors at the PMA House on Tuesday. Dr Asif Qureshi and renowned gynacologist Dr Shershah Syed talked to the doctors about career opportunities in Pakistan, England and the United States (US). Dr Ibrahim, who was visiting from the US, said that hard working Pakistani doctors have a good future abroad, especially in the US. Dr Sirajuddulla emphasised on getting the basics right. “One cannot become a good doctor without having good knowledge of basic medical sciences,” he said. He lamented the fact that students were not studying hard enough for post-graduation studies. A prominent radiologist, Dr Tariq Rafi, said that the field of radiology needed new blood. Family physician Dr Arshad Majeed talked about the importance and need of family physicians in the health sector and said that doctors needed continuous medical training.
