FAISALABAD:

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will provide technical and financials assistance to Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) for capacity building.

This was announced on Wednesday during a visit by a USAID team to the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company office.

The visitors led by Melissa Knight, the director of energy, met Fesco’s senior management and discussed the offer of assistance under the USAID’s Power Distribution Programme. The meeting was chaired by Faisalabad Electric Supply Company Chief Executive Officer Iftikhar Ahmed.

Later, a statement issued by USAID said that the discussion was based on a work plan on USAID’s assistance to Fesco in finance, engineering and operations, human resource capacity building, commercial management and improvement of customer services.

The three-year United States Agency for International Development Power Distribution Programme was announced by US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in 2009, as one of the US efforts to support the government of Pakistan to reform the power sector.
