Bomb explosions: Two more schools razed in K-P & Fata

Despite several efforts by the government, schools remain a soft target for militants.

PESHAWAR/GHALLANI:

Two government schools in Peshawar and Mohmand have been destroyed in separate incidents, officials reported.

A boys primary school was damaged when two bombs planted near its boundary walls exploded at 12 30 am in Mashogagar Village, Badhaber, near Khyber Agency.

Locals told The Express Tribune that two rooms and a hall in the building were completely destroyed. Faiz Muhammad, a resident, said that they informed the police, but officers were reluctant to visit the area at night themselves.

In another incident, a security official reported that a school in Wali Kor
Village was raised to the ground after militants planted explosives in its main building.

The number of schools destroyed in Safi has crossed 50 and the total in Mohmand Agency has reached around 98. The education department has not yet provided alternative arrangements for students of these schools as most of them are currently on summer vacations.

Despite several efforts by the government, schools remain a soft target for militants.
